PhD in Agricultural Economics and currently Professor of Economics at the Technical University of Madrid. He was formerly Professor at Córdoba University and Visiting Professor in several universities like Portsmouth, Reading, Wageningen, etc. Professor Romero is author, co-author or co-editor of 20 books and approximately 250 papers ( around 100 of them appearing in the ISI data basis) with an interdisciplinary perspective that combines engineering, economics and applied mathematics. His research has generated more than 2500 citations with an " h index" of 30 (ISI data basis), and more than 7000 citations with an "h index" of 41 according to the Google Scholar. He has supervised 22 PhD dissertations.
Carlos Romero is "fellow" of several societies like the "Operational Research Society". Among his current editorial positions he is Area Editor (multi-objective optimisation & goal programming) of the Journal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, Associate Editor (operations research) of Forest Science, as well as Guest Editor of Annals of Operations Research and of the International Transactions in Operational Research. Among other distinctions he received in 2001 the National Prize of Economics and the Environment and in 2006 the Georg Cantor Award bestowed by the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making.
